Wood is the most ecological building material. It is a natural product, it does not require industrial processes in the stages of planting, maintenance and harvest, and it does not generate significant impact on the environment until its transformation stage. It is less intensive in energy consumption, its transformation processes require less much less energy than other materials like steel, aluminum, plastics and cement. Wood is recyclable, its residue does not need high grade technology for its transformation in new materials like paper, biomass, etc. Wood is biodegradable, almost no product made from wood will present environment contamination issues in soils, water and atmosphere.
